Could Renewable Energy Drive the Growth of Utilities in the Future?

There is widespread support for using renewable energy, predominantly solar and wind energy, to generate electricity. According to the Short-Term Energy Outlook published by EIA (US Energy Information Agency), the generation of electricity from such energies is expected to increase by 9% in 2016.  This corresponds with the increase in environmental concerns being enforced by regulatory bodies and urging utilities to move toward cleaner fuel mixes. Also, with the increase in cost of generating power from coal and gas more renewable energy plants will be installed.
