The US-based Afton Chemical Corporation that develops and manufactures petroleum additives, including driveline, engine oil, fuel and industrial additives has announced the opening of a US$100 million (S$136.7 million) chemical manufacturing plant on Jurong Island, Singapore. This plant has been set up with the intention of producing key components used by the company in engine oil additives to meet the rising regional and global demand. The construction process of the plant started in 2014. The commencement of production at the new plant will make Afton Chemical cement its expansion into the Asia Pacific region. It has the mission of becoming a specialist in additive products that are made in Asia for Asia. This strategy is to ensure that it has the right supply footprints to meet customer needs.
